For BIOENG 1340, my team and I a transfer learning model based on RESNET-50 to classify COVID-19 through the use on lung X-Rays. This project was a very good learning experience for me, as I worked on tweaking the model and the architecture of the final layers to see what effects that would have on our results. I also further understood the effect that class imbalance can have on the models classification output and performance metrics. Post- presentation for the course, I have worked on addressing the class imbalance and am also working on trying different model architectures to improve performance and understand the nuances of common convolutional neural networks.
